Valleydale Farms takes pride in practicing all natural and organic farming methods because we're convinced consuming pesticide- free superfoods can lead to improved health.
We grow acres of American Elderberry bushes (Sambucus Canadensis, not to be confused with Sambucus Nigra of European origin).
Why are elderberries so healthy? Many of us take a daily teaspoon of Sambucus Elderberry syrup to promote overall health and boost immunity. Early studies at the University of Missouri Medical School are hopeful that elderberry consumption may reduce memory loss and possibly prevent Alzheimer's Disease.
Elderberry juice contains over 30,000 compounds know as metabolites that may be health benefitting. Studies have shown elderberry juice may reduce the level of fat in the blood and decrease cholesterol. In addition, a diet high in flavonoids like anthocyanins has been found to reduce the risk of heart disease.
It is a very versatile fruit. Elderberry can be enjoyed as a cordial, juice, tincture, infused oil, wine, syrup, baked in a pie, or in a jam. They freeze and dehydrate well.
Late summer our fresh, frozen and dehydrated elderberries are available to elderberry syrup makers, restaurants and health food stores.

Kathadin Sheep and Lambs
Meet Clover, Dewdrop and Dandelion, three of our ewes! We raise our Katahdin hair sheep on pasture, using rotational grazing to ensure our flock is disease resistant without the use of antibiotics. If necessary, we supplement with premium hay during the winter months only if grass and foraging is in short supply. Our girls make the best mothers and often birth twins and triplets. Grass-fed lamb is the tastiest, healthiest and leanest lamb available.
